A Unfortunate Incident .

It set off alright ! - a walk along the canal banks near Crooklands . This section still has water in it , note the extra wide bit to allow for barges to pass each other.

One of the well preserved bridges on this part of the canal .

This bridge has a protective iron band on it to protect the stonework from the towing ropes . This is the only one I've seen so far on a bridge.

Somebody has engraved their name on it - the maker ? or the man that fitted it ?.

At this point things went downhill rapidly - Charlie disappeared into some bushes and seemed to be a long while - when he reappeared it became apparent (both visually and nasally) that he had been rolling in something , upon investigation we found that some walker had been forced to relieve themselves and the dog had rolled in the debris . He was NOT popular , the photo does not show the true horror of the situation . Somebody had to pick him up and put him in the car - luckily we have a cover on the back seat .

A bath was in order - just look at the colour of the water ! .

One rather sad looking - but sweet smelling puppy !.
